What if I told you that being out of control is more powerful than you think? — A 30-day challenge

As humans we all know how blissed out we can become when we are totally present and out of this logical thinking mode which is looking for solutions and control. But as nice as it sounds on paper, and as nice it can be during those fleeting moments, it isn’t easy to sustain is it?

Often thinking and doing is the default state, and these moments of bliss come around randomly. But what if that was flipped? And peace became your default state?

I struggled with “being stuck in my head” for most of life, and I felt like I was destined to a life of suffering and fear, therefore I kept looking for ways to avoid suffering. Excessive booze, TV binges, food binges, or any other short term pleasures. I have been practicing yoga and meditation for around 7 years now, and I have come to a point where i no longer fight myself, instead i just surrender control.

Its allowed my inner fortress to strengthen, because more often than not, its not outside of the fortress that we need to defend against attacks (the outside world). We are usually attacked by an insider, inside is where the defenses are weakest!!!

That inside bit right there is where the leader sits, don’t let them get hit by his own workers (the mind!!)

In the past few months, I have taken this to another level by playing a game with myself, the name of the game is surrendering all desires and expectations.

The way I play is that whenever I have an upcoming event, I will become aware of the thinking process to create a solution, a plan, and then I’d let it go. Of course, it happens over and over, so I continue to release control during the day, as often as i need to.

You may say, well how do you get anything done then? And my answer to that is that a higher awareness kicks in naturally and this allows me to express my highest self during every present experience, the plan/logic feels like it just gets in the way.

So, imagine you have an event coming up, formal or non formal. The mind will rapidly analyse (consciously or unconsciously) how you have behaved in the past, it will then try to form patterns of what worked well, and then it may try to create a “measure”. Like a minimum height at a theme park! This can also vary based on the people, the situation, your energy level, there’s tons of variables. But its way to easy to get hung up on variables and use them as the “reason” why you feel anxious.

As a result, insecurities of the self may appear, and nervous energy starts Manifesting somatically, and hence kicks off a further thinking loop.

With the game of surrender, the measurement isn’t there, because the calculator of the mind isn’t being used.

Its like that annoying little sound that phones make (yeah…notifications!) and turning them off so they cant pull you into their world

I am aware I may be making this sound simple; it isn’t! But practicing letting go of the thinking can truly open up this innate ability to see more clearly and access a more powerful source of energy, one which is connected to something outside of thought/emotion

Playing this game has allowed me to free up a load of energy that was previously being used to analyse. Now i can use this extra energy for better purposes.

Its like being given £100 a day to spend, if 80 of it is spent analysing, then you’ve got just about enough left to prepare dinner! Of course its tiring to be stressed! But with this way of living i’ve talked about its like you get that £80 back. Effectively it’s going from survival to thrive-al (you like that one don’t you!)

I work as a life coach so this article might sound strange because typically coaching is about goals, but I prefer to help people drop the survival mode first, so that their goals can be untainted, expansive and fueled by a more powerful source. It’s that potential which has been there all along, like the sun behind the clouds 🙂

So, will you join me and play this game of letting go of thoughts for 30 days? As soon as they arise, just say sorry i am not believing you today. No matter if the thoughts are good or bad.

If you are willing to play this game with yourself, you don’t need to tell me, but of course I’d love to hear if you are. I can share how I stay motivated and can tell you how I’ve made this sound easier to practice than it sounds.

Much Light
